Switchgear Expert Joins ROMAC Engineering Staff
ROMAC, supplier of custom, new, and surplus electrical equipment for industry, is pleased to announce that veteran switchgear design engineer Howard Scott has joined the engineering staff of Power Controls Inc. (PCI), a ROMAC division that specializes in custom electrical service equipment for industrial and commercial installations.
Mr. Scott began his electrical engineering career designing switchgear for Cutler-Hammer in 1966. Since then, Scott has designed low-voltage and medium-voltage switchgear for a number of switchgear manufacturers in the United States.
“ROMAC’s PCI business has grown exponentially during the past several years, even in the recent tough economic climate,” said David Rosenfield, President of ROMAC. “I am very excited to have brought Howard to ROMAC/PCI. His industry experience with switchgear design and UL project management gives us exactly what we need to advance our own strategies for growth and improvement. His long tenure in our industry has given him very close exposure to many vintages of switchgear and will add significantly to ROMAC’s ability in the reconditioning feature of our business.”
One of Mr. Scott’s unique insights into the switchgear industry is that large parts of many custom designs have been done before and can be used to save customers time and money. “My design philosophy is about efficiency, which is why I developed my own design number system based on sheet metal parts and square footage, among other criteria,” explained Mr. Scott. “When ROMAC gets a new project, we can search the repository and see if we’ve designed something similar to use as a template for the custom job. It saves the customer time and money, which is critical in this economic environment.”
Mr. Scott lives in Southern California with his wife of 32 years, Donna. When not designing switchgear, he enjoys designing specialty equipment for gold prospecting, and, of course, finding
a nugget here and there for himself.
Based out of Commerce, California, ROMAC’s 240,000-sq-ft facility has one of the nation’s largest inventories of custom, new, and surplus electrical products. ROMAC and its OEM
subsidiaries – ROMAC Power Controls, Inc. (PCI), ROMAC Power Technologies, and ROMAC Hardware Resource Company (HRC) – offer a complete line of new and replacement electrical
apparatus, from power-generating equipment through distribution, controls, and motors, as well as custom design, engineering, fabrication, and testing. For more information, visit ROMAC’s

About ROMAC Power Controls Inc.:
ROMAC Power Controls, Inc. (PCI) opened more than 35 years ago to provide new, custom- built, and UL-listed electrical systems for construction and expansion projects when commercial- off-the-self (COTS) solutions can’t meet customers’ configuration, performance, time, or budget requirements. ROMAC PCI’s in-house engineering staff provides custom-built electrical apparatus to fit your restricted space requirements or unusual bus configurations to match to existing new equipment. Unlike other OEMs, ROMAC PCI will design your equipment using the components you prefer to keep your inventories low.
